The name “SGM” originated from the initials of Salvatore Giuseppe Muzzi, the original owner of the business. In 1969, Salvatore and a friend/co-worker started up as Solar Cement Finishing and Westway Forming. Back then, they did forming, cement finishing concrete walls and floors, concrete and stucco in high-rise, low-rise, residential, commercial, and industrial developments here in the GTA and surrounding areas and also in Calgary, Alberta.
In 1982, the partners went their separate ways. Salvatore (Sam/Sammy) opened Muzzi General Contracting and SGM Stucco Systems. Being one of the first, if not the first, Exterior Insulation and Finishing, he manages to build a reputation for excellence.
Through school summers and college, Salvatore’s son Joe worked part time selling masonry work and asphalt driveways, parking lots etc., to a point where it became very busy. Once Joe finished college, he combined his Exterior General Contracting with his father’s business and SGM Contracting was born. Today, SGM Contracting is bringing all of your exterior designs and dreams to life from wall to ground, serving the Greater Toronto Area and Surrounding Areas.
